Case Study - Class 456 Cab Air Conditioning

Home > Enhancement Products > Case Study - Class 456 Cab Air Conditioning

Background

Southern region EMUs cabs are subjected to lots of sunlight in summer months and so can rapidly heat up, and when driving towards the sun, it can be almost impossible to cool the cab just using the existing desk fan.

With previous expertise in systems installation, and specifically cab cooling integration, ESG provided Southern Railway with full project management, design, supply, and fleet installation services to improve the driving environment.

ESG selected a design partner, an expert in production of air conditioning and air conditioning systems outside of the rail industry, and through close partnership, produced a bespoke design to rail standards.
