CAREER PATH
ESG offers good opportunities for career development and enhancement as experience grows. Engineers are offered one of the following positions depending on qualifications and experience:
Graduate Engineer

Working in conjunction with the ATOC Graduate Engineer Scheme and assigned to a mentor from within ESG. The Graduate Engineer will experience up to 2-years of on-the-job training and external placements followed by a further 2 years of monitored career development that satisfies the requirements of the IMechE's MPDS (or the corresponding IET) scheme. After this time the graduate is expected to become chartered and promoted to Consultant Engineer.

Consultant Engineer
The cornerstone of ESG's team of engineers, Consultant Engineers work on a variety of projects. Working either on your own initiative or as part of a larger team, you will experience regular contact with our customers and take responsibility for decisions made during project delivery. Young engineers or new starters from different backgrounds may be assigned a mentor to expand their skills base to enable attainment of more senior positions
Senior Consultant Engineer
Consultant Engineers with extensive proven experience are appointed as Senior Consultant. At this level you will take on increasing responsibility in managing larger projects and have attained a good understanding awareness of railway certification/approval processes. Senior Consultants do more than just deliver projects, promoting ESG business values and developing rapport with customers, helping to understand their situations and needs, so as to better develop our range of services for the future.
Principal Consultant Engineer
ESG employs a number of very experienced engineers, recognised and acknowledged throughout the industry as experts in their field and much in demand for industry subject committees, standard drafting groups and the like. As well as working on their own particular projects, Principal Consultant Engineers provide an overview of all work being undertaken in the organisation, providing expert advice and input where necessary to ensure satisfactory delivery on even the most challenging of projects.
